Some of the most powerful moments in Scripture aren’t filled with miracles or grand declarations, they are filled with tears and longing. In Luke 13:31-35, Jesus looks over Jerusalem and weeps. He sees a city that has rejected Him, a people who have turned away, and still, His heart is full of love.
Jesus compares Himself to a mother hen, longing to gather and protect her chicks, but they refuse. His love is relentless, yet He does not force Himself where He is not wanted. Instead, He stands in the gap, praying, waiting, and still offering grace to those who will receive it.
This week in The Bridge, we reflect on what it means to stand in the gap. Who are we praying for? Who needs our love, even when they push us away? How can we trust in God’s unfailing love when we feel rejected, abandoned, or distant from Him? Jesus’ love never gives up; are we willing to love with the same endurance?
