What's the Point?

Our culture constantly pushes us to achieve more, but what happens when we reach our goals only to find they don't satisfy? In Philippians 3, Paul addresses this universal question by sharing his own journey. After listing his impressive credentials; his tribe, education, moral record, and reputation; he declares them all as loss compared to knowing Christ.Paul isn't saying his achievements were worthless, but rather that he discovered something greater. He stopped asking his accomplishments to carry the weight of his purpose and found his identity not in what he had done, but in whose he was. This profound shift allowed him to 'press on' not to earn something, but because Christ had already claimed him. The Christian life, Paul shows us, isn't about climbing higher but walking further into grace. This perspective transforms how we view everyday life. Once we understand where our worth truly comes from, the pressure to prove ourselves begins to fade. Like the character Joe Gardner in the film 'Soul,' we can recognize that life wasn't waiting to begin once we reached our goals; it was happening all along in ordinary moments. The meaningful life isn't found in perfection or arrival, but in presence and relationship with the One who has made us His own.
