Keep Knocking

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He emphasized simplicity and persistence over elaborate words. The Lord's Prayer provides a pattern of dependence that honors God, acknowledges our needs, and connects us in community. But Jesus didn't stop there—He illustrated the heart of prayer through stories like the midnight visitor, showing that faith persists even when answers aren't immediate.The familiar instruction to 'ask, seek, knock' describes prayer not as a single event but as an ongoing posture. This persistence isn't about wearing God down but about maintaining relationship through all circumstances. Jesus assured His followers that God, like a good parent, gives good gifts—particularly His presence through the Holy Spirit—rather than harmful substitutes. The comparison to 'Finding Nemo,' where fish kept swimming downward together despite uncertainty, perfectly captures this spirit of committed prayer.Mature faith is characterized not by perfect words but by persistent presence—staying in conversation even when God seems silent. Prayer isn't a transaction to convince God to care, but an invitation to relationship with the One who already does. The challenge for believers is to revive prayers they've abandoned, not with demands but with simple persistence, understanding that waiting doesn't equal abandonment.
