Kingdom Carriers

In Luke 10, Jesus sends out 70 followers with surprisingly simple instructions and minimal resources - go in pairs, travel light, offer peace, stay where welcomed, and move on from rejection. This approach challenges our desire for control and structure, inviting us instead into a mission built on trust rather than performance. The disciples weren't sent to win arguments but to announce and embody the nearness of God's kingdom through their presence. This passage speaks directly to our tendency toward spiritual perfectionism. Like Isabella in Encanto who believed her gift only worked when everything was perfect, we often think our effectiveness depends on having it all together. When the disciples returned excited about their spiritual accomplishments, Jesus redirected their focus: 'Rejoice that your names are written in heaven.' Our identity isn't in what we achieve but in our belonging to God. In today's achievement-oriented culture, Jesus calls us to a different kind of success: faithfulness over impressiveness, peace over power, and joy rooted in relationship rather than results. The kingdom doesn't require our perfection - it requires our presence.
