The PEace that Stays
On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus spoke words not of fear, but of comfort: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” In a world full of noise, grief, and confusion, this kind of peace isn’t something we earn; it’s a gift.
In John 14:23–29, Jesus prepares His disciples for what’s to come, not by shielding them from hardship, but by promising His presence. He speaks of the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, who will teach, remind, and remain. He doesn’t offer escape from trouble; He offers endurance through it.
This Sunday’s message, The Peace That Stays, invites us to reflect on what it means to experience Christ’s lasting peace in a world where our hearts are often troubled. Whether we are grieving, fearful, uncertain, or simply weary, Jesus still speaks: “Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” And as we gather at the table for Communion, we’re reminded that His peace is not far away; it’s already here.
